It was song and dance time for hundreds of teachers gathered at The Music Academy.
They were being treated to an evening of music ‘To teachers with love', organised as part of The Hindu's Newspaper in Education (NIE) initiative here on Thursday.
‘Dhwani' concert
As musicians of the Kolkata-based group ‘Dhwani' proceeded from one song to another, enthusiastic teachers danced along, inviting their colleagues and counterparts from other schools to join them.
Variety of compositions
The singers presented a wide variety of compositions ranging from Louis Armstrong's ‘A kiss to build a dream on' to Shammi Kapoor's super hit ‘Bar bar dekho' to Ilayaraja's lilting ‘Kaatril varum geethame' to A.R. Rahman's ‘Mana madurai'.
They alternated between fast and slow paced numbers, with some exciting rock ‘n' roll, twist and gypsy music pieces in between.
Playback singer Karthik was the chief guest for the evening.
Earlier, radio partner Radio One organised a few contests for teachers.
Linc Uniball was the title sponsor of the event.
Fruitnik and Adyar Anandha Bhavan were the beverage and snacks sponsors respectively.
