The system of Oral, written and knowledge forms were known to Tamilians even in the New Stone Age, that is even before the Sangam Ae according to Natana Kasinathan, the former Director of Archeology - Tamil Nadu. He says, that Tamilians had knowledge of language during 10,000 BC and they had the knowledge of writting during 10,000 BC. It is stated that old Tamil scripts developed from the evolved script of Harappa symbols.
There are evidences found through Radio Carbon dating Tamilians developed the knowledge as early in the "Puthiya Karkalam" (The New Stone Age) and it reached peak in "Perun Karkalam" Megalithic period before Sangam Era.
