The Railway Staff College is celebrating its 60th anniversary at its campus today. Vinod Rai, Comptroller & Auditor General of India is a Chief Guest on the occasion and deliver the keynote address.
Established in 1952, the College is one of the five Centralised Training Institutes (CTIs) of the Indian Railways which runs training courses for officers of all disciplines and all grades right from Probationers to prospective General Managers.
"The college provides training not only to freshly appointed officers but also to senior members of the Railways. It also trains officers holding important positions in the Union government," Director General of the college Neeraj Kumar told reporters here.
The institute, established in 1930 at Dehra Dun, was shifted here in 1952 and is situated on a sprawling campus of 55 acres of the Pratap Vilas Palace.
"The college has been providing well-rounded education to the railway officials. It tries to inculcate a sense of hardcore discipline among these officials and also heightens the level of admiration for the Indian Railways," Kumar said.
Around 15,000 group 'A' and group 'B' officers, including over 3000 medical officers, out of 1.4 million employees of Indian Railways, are regularly trained at the institute in all basic and advanced management courses.
