For students of municipal schools, it was an experience. On a winter morning, they gathered, clad in their school uniforms to share the experience of singing the national anthem “Janaganamana” organised by Forum for Better Visakha, a coalition of NGOs and concerned citizens.
The programme was organised at Gandhi Statue near GVMC. Joining them and singing the anthem in unison were students from Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan.
An inspiration
The rendering of the anthem together has an inspirational touch with several speakers reminding them of their role in building the nation and serving the cause of the poor.
Students of KNM Girls High School, NMCH and MVDM schools participated. The statue of Mahatma Gandhi and the photo of Rabindranath Tagore were garlanded.
A student in the attire of Tagore was the cynosure of all eyes. The speakers included Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao, FBV Convener and former IAS Officer E.A.S. Sarma and Praja Spandana, president C.S. Rao and they underlined the spirit of oneness fostered by the anthem.
