Shri Shikshayatan College celebrated their 56th annual function recently at Kalamandir. Dr Anis Chattopadhyay, director of Public Instruction, West Bengal and ex-officio secretary, Higher Education Department, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The event was presided over by the president of the college, governing body, G K Khaitan. Also present were college secretary R K Misra and teacher-in-charge Debjani Nag among other dignitaries.
The event began with an opening song and was soon followed by the welcome address by Debjani Nag. G K Khaitan inaugurated the college magazine to the delight of the students.
Prizes were awarded to students of the BA, B Sc, B Com honours and general along with major streams and B Ed students who scored the highest marks in their respective subjects.
Dr Chattopadhyay gave away the prizes to the students and then delivered a speech.
The cultural programme was a pair of classic plays enacted by the students and directed by the teachers. The first play was in English, The Proposal. The second play was bi-lingual, in Bengali and Hindi, named Niyamhara Hishabheen.
