Mah: locals oppose allotment of land for Aligarh Univ centre

Updated on: Friday, October 14, 2011

Residents of Kajawade village in Malegaon taluka of Nashik district have opposed the proposal to allot a nearby land for a centre of Uttar Pradesh-based Aligarh University.

The proposal had been put up by Maharashtra government recently.

But the village Gram-Sabha, at a meeting here, strongly opposed the proposal, said Pralhad Borse, the sarpanch.

District administration had recommended 300 acres of government land at Rampura near the village but media reports said Kajawade Gram-Sabha had passed a resolution facilitating allotment of land.

Borse said no such resolution had been passed and villagers would launch an agitation if land was given away.
