Nehru World School, Ghaziabad installs first 3D Lab for students

Nehru World School, Ghaziabad set up the first Interactive 3D Lab to give a new dimension to the teaching and learning process. The new system uses 3D effects to enhance classroom learning. Activities like interactive quizzes, 3D experiments have been added. A theatrical approach is used to enhance teaching content by emphasising and highlighting the key learning points in each topic. The software is developed in liaison with educationists to make sure all content is factually accurate . This system is being used in India for the first time in a school.

A special projector has been imported from USA while 3D glasses have come from Hong Kong. The course content has been sourced from UK. Cogent E Services, a Noida based company helped the school in this venture. Arunabh Singh (Director , Innovation Management at Nehru World School), spoke about the advent of 3D in the education sector in the years to come.

Ramakrishna Sr Sec School, Vikaspuri participated in the 2open national martial and championship held at Bal Bhawan School, Sec-12 , Dwarka. The school won 6 gold, 10 silver, 3 bronze medals and bagged the runners' up trophy . School principal Dr Mamta Aggarwal appreciated the faculty members who had prepared and trained the students . She also blessed the students.

DLDAV Pitampura celebrated 'Spectrum' , the annual inter-house fest. Various competitions were organised for students of Modesty, Courage, Dignity, Enterprise and Freedom house. Extempore and Just-a-minute competitions were held on intra-class basis. Skill based competitions like rangoli, magazine cover /newspaper/handkerchief designing, mask making etc were held. The house presentations were on significant themes like communal harmony, 'money the bitter honey' , new vistas in educational horizons, women empowerment and mobile mania displayed students' prowess in dramatic skills as well as their originality , innovative concepts and visual aesthetic sense. Chief guest Madhu Omcherri congratulated the students. The rolling trophy for best overall performance was bagged by Modesty house. School principal Anita Wadehra congratulated the students. Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai celebrated Hindi Diwas on September 14. The function commenced with lighting of diya, by chief guest Dr Sunil Jogi, Hindi poet, actor, script writer and author. Children presented a song written and composed by primary teachers. School principal, A P Sharma highlighted the importance of Hindi language.

Students presented a humourous play on the use of proverbs and idioms in Hindi. The highlight of the show was 'Hasya Kavi Samelan' . Primary in-charge Vandana Kumar gave a vote of thanks. DPS, Sec-45 , Gurgaon celebrated Hindi Divas on September 19 and award ceremony . The event was dedicated to Rakesh Nandini Gupta, poetess and woman of substance. The school paid tribute to her by showcasing her poems. The chief guest for the occasion was provice chairperson of the school, Dhara Jaipuria.

The guests of honour were Vivek Gupta, Shalini Gupta, Madhu Jindal , Bela Saha, Archana Dalmia and Devyani Jaipuria. School principal Aditi Misra welcomed the guests. The chief guest and guests of honour gave away prizes to students for their excellence in academics and co-curricular activities. Junior school headmistress Guneet Ohri gave vote of thanks. G D Goenka Public School Karkardooma hosted a mesmerising performance as a part of SPIC MACAY 'Virasat 2011' on September 26.

Renowned artists Pt Prateek Chaudhuri played the sitar and was accompanied by Mayank Raina (tanpura) and Ustad Rashid Jaffar Khan (tabla). Other schools were also invited for the same. School chairperson, Mrs Malini, opined that understanding of music nowadays is limited to noise and the depth of music is lost somewhere. The idea behind organising this event was to bring out this realisation amongst youth and connect them to the beautiful musical heritage of our country. "Classical music brings children closer to their culture ," said school head, Neha Sharma. Bhavan's Sawan Public School, Chattarpur celebrated the International Literacy Day on September 8. Students of class VIII took a lead in the literacy programme under the guidance of their teacher, Ananya Rudra, with the motto 'Each One, Teach One' .

Around six people were identified from the colony of class IV employees of the school, by the students and Mrs Ananya. The students counselled them for attending the literacy classes. Taniya, Vidushi, Tushar, Manish, Shubham, Aadhaar, Anmol, Rohan , Youngzdoo, Mudiet, Neeraj and Nakul held evening classes for those identified people.

Their efforts culminated on the International Literacy Day, wherein those learners gave a presentation in the morning assembly in the form of a self-introduction , poem-recitation , etc and also shared some of their experiences. Rohit Bajaj, Principal and Seema Bajaj, HOD of Remal Public School, Sec-3 , Rohini were conferred Teacher's State Award by Federation of Public School, Delhi on September 15, for their distinguished service and contribution towards education. The award was given away by Delhi CM Sheila Dixit. Director of Education, Diwan Chand, IAS Govt of NCT of Delhi and Dr R P Malik , Chairman, Federation of Public Schools also graced the occasion.
