NIIT Yuva Jyoti Ltd (NYJL), where NIIT would hold 90 per cent stake, aims to train around 70 lakh youth by 2022 across nine sectors.

These sectors include retail, IT/ITeS, BFSI, education and training services, media and entertainment, healthcare, telecom, hospitality and the informal sector.

The total project outlay of the project is Rs 377 crore over the first four years, which will be met through a mix of internal accruals and loan.

The emphasis will be to offer job-oriented training in tier III and IV towns to applicants mainly from low and middle income households, he added.

NYJL aims to setup over 1,500 NIIT Yuva Jyoti centres, across 1,000 cities and the courses on offer would be 3-6 month courses with fees ranging between Rs 500-2,500 per month, depending on the course.

NSDC is a not-for-profit company set up by the Ministry of Finance as the first PPP initiative with the mandate to skill up 15 crore people by 2022.
