Worlddidac India, a three-day international exhibition on education and training, began here with leading German companies engaged in the field showcasing their products at the event.

German firms will present products and services across the entire spectrum of lifelong learning, from early childhood learning to further education, as well as vocational education and training at the exhibition.

"The German pavilion at Worlddidac India will display a cross-section of products and services that can help India capitalise effectively on its demographic pidend," Cord Meier-Klodt, Deputy Head of the German Embassy in New Delhi, said.

"There can be an excellent synergy between India's large pool of young talent and Germany's skills in the education and vocational training sectors. Germany's system of dual training is a globally acknowledged success and we would like to offer this knowhow to India," Meier-Klodt said in a statement.

Education and training are important areas of bilateral cooperation between Germany and India. This sector will be in special focus during the Year of Germany in India in 2011-12, marking 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The German participation is presented by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA).

It's supported by "didacta international", which represents over 230 German organisations involved in the education industry, and is one of the major forces supporting the world's largest education fair "didacta".

Germany's International Marketing of Vocational Education (iMOVE) and the Federal Institute for Vocational Education & Training, BIBB will also be present at Worlddidac India.
