QCI to accord accreditation to secondary schools

Quality Council of India (QCI) would now accord accreditation to secondary schools after thorough evaluation of the educational, teaching and infrastructure standard of the schools in Bihar, State Council of Education Research and Training director Hasan Waris said.

Waris said the council had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with QCI for accreditation of the secondary schools on the basis of the educational, teaching and infrastructure standards in Bihar.

He was talking to reporters on the sidelines of a workshop organised by the Union Human Resource Development Ministry and the State Human Resource Development department on 'Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA)' here.

Under the pilot project, 10 secondary schools of the state would be selected for grant of accreditation by the QCI in the state in next six months, he said.

The technical expert committee would first evaluate and examine availability of schools buildings, extra curricular activities, sports, education, recreation, grounds for sports, cleanliness, sanitation, libraries and student-friendly teachers and then the QCI team would be asked for undertaking visit to the schools for granting accreditation of A Plus, B plus etc, Waris said.

"It will benefit the schools in image-building and attract the guardians for enrolling their wards with full confidence in such accreditated schools", he pointed out.

Director of Bihar Education Project Rajesh Bhushan said all efforts be made for universalisation of secondary education on the lines of the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Right to Education Act for universalisation of the elementary education.
