Students get engineering degrees without taking practicals !

The Comptroller and Auditor General's report revealed that 563 students, who studied BE (Mechanical Engineering) at Anna University's college of engineering, Guindy, from 2006-10 passed the course without taking up thermal engineering practical examination as the steam laboratory required for the subject was not functional.

According to the report, practicals for thermal engineering subject were to be done in steam laboratory, but found that the steam laboratory was not functional since 2006.

The report also states that hostel facilities provided to the students by Anna University Guindy campus was not upto the mark.
