IOC hires eight NITP students

As many as eight students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna have been recruited as graduate engineer trainees by the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd through campus interview. All the selected students are quite excited as they have been offered an initial package of Rs 9.3 lakh per annum each.

NITP placement coordinator Sanjiv Sinha said that the students selected for jobs by the prestigious company include Rachita Saumya, Prabhakar Sinha, Ankit Dakhne, Shiva Aditya, Saba Zeenat, Rupasha Rani, Vikas, Raman and Sweta Chaudhary.

Rachita, the topper final year electrical engineering student of NIT, had earlier won a summer fellowship from the prestigious Indian Academy of Science and a scholarship from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in recognition of her consistent academic excellence. Daughter of Magadh University chemistry teacher R K Verma, she has consistently maintained her CGPA of over 9.54 and is the first NITP recipient of the IAS-INSA-NSA summer fellowship by the Bangalore-based Indian Academy of Science.

Writers' Festival: India Inter-continental Cultural Association has invited budding writer Ashutosh Kumar to participate in the 7th International Writers Festival to be held in Mumbai on November 26 and 27. The theme of the festival is "Diaspora literature and universal peace: Contributions of Mahatma Gandhi."

Ashutosh, who has done post-graduation in English from Patna University, attracted media attention when his first novel "The Great Return of Doctor Faustus" was published last year.

Award to PU Teacher: The India International Friendship has selected Patna University English teacher Shiv Jatan Thakur for the award of "Shiksha Ratna". The award, along with a citation, would be given to him at a function to be held in New Delhi in October this year.
