CII, Asia Foundation to distribute books to 25,000 students

The Asia Foundation and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) embarked upon distribution of books to 25,000 students at the primary and secondary levels and also universities in all Southern States and the Union Territory of Puducherry to mark the World Literacy Day.
 
Students from 400 institutions in these States were being covered under the project to mark the promotion of literacy and coinciding with the celebation of the Literacy Day, which is being observed today, a CII release said.
 
Books on science, literature, history, geography, economics, political science and international relations were being distributed to the students.
 
The project is being carried out in association with the Asia Foundation, which provides one million new books to students, educators and leaders across 18 Asian counries every year, the release said.
 
CII has been associated with the project since 2008, it added.
