Eklavya awards to honour city's best teachers

Seven educationists from the city will be awarded by the Eklavya Education Foundation in recognition of their contribution towards improving the teaching profession , on September 5 (Teacher's Day), at the Ahmedabad Management Association.

Those who will be conferred Eklavya Excellent Educator Awards 2011 include Ishwarbhai Manohardas Patel of Sheth C N Vidyavihar, who will receive Eklavya Lifetime Achievement Award. Bhumika Parmar of Vasna Municipal Shala No 3, will receive Eklavya Excellent Young Educator Award. Bhikabhai Kavi from Salujina Muvada Primary School Dabhoda will be conferred Eklavya Excellent Innovative Educator Award. Amthabhai Khengarbhai Rabari of Naranpura Municipal Shala No 1, will receive Eklavya Excellent Institution Builder Award. Bhavin Dipakbhai Pathak from Delhi Public School Gandhinagar and Ashwini Kantilal Rajgor from Shreevaratanu Sanskrit Mahavidyalay, Bhagwat Vidyapith , will be honoured with Eklavya Excellent Sanskrit Educator Award.

A former chief justice of Gujarat high court, B J Diwan, was the chairman of the jury panel which included Indian Institute of Management professor Rakesh Basant as vicechairman . The awards include a cash prize, citation and a trophy , to be given by the registrar of the Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai, professor Neela Dabir.

Announcing the winners on Saturday, one of jury members, Narendra Pandya said: " Educators from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar had filled the form in July and then the panel of experts had shortlisted the candidates for personal visit. After several rounds of discussion , awards were decided."
