Dalai Lama to inaugurate IGNOU's Tibetan Studies centre

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama will inaugurate the Centre for Tibetan Studies at the Indira Gandhi National Open University here next month.
 
The inauguration of the new centre will mark IGNOU's 24th convocation which will be held on September 5, IGNOU said in a release here.
 
On the same day, the university "will also confer Honoris Causa (an honorary doctor of letters degree) on the Tibetan spiritual leader," it said.
 
The university also announced that it would institute six new awards for on-campus students pursuing Masters in Social Work (MSW).
 
"These awards will be given every year to the MSW fourth semester on-campus students both at IGNOU headquarters and the Regional Centre, Cochin," the release added.
