IGNOU regional centre to come up in 2 yrs

Regional centre of Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) would be commissioned in two years at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore, a top IGNOU official said here.

IGNOU Vice Chancellor V N Rajasekaran Pillai told reporters here that the South Zone campus, to be inaugurated by President Pratiba Patil, was part of IGNOU's plan to establish five zones all over India.
 
He claimed that nearly 40 lakh students are doing 500 courses offered by IGNOU and that the university also has a placement for 47 per cent of its students, he said.
 
IGNOU's recent project was the National Centre for Disability Studies and Institute of Sign Language Centre, he said.
