TN Govt focussed to increase GER

Tamil Nadu government has set a target of increasing Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education to 25 per cent by 2025, Higher Education Minister P Palaniappan said.

Participating at the diamond jubilee celebrations of PSG College of Technology here, Palaniappan said the government, considering the prevailing 18 per cent GER in the state, wanted to increase it to 25 per cent, as against the 23 per cent of world level.
  
As against the Country's average GER of 15.3 per cent, Tamil Nadu has over 18 per cent of enrolling students for higher education between the age group of 18 to 23 years, he said.
