Mahatma Gandhi, once averred, "The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problems." To entail this approach in today’s society and to reap the benefits of making a difference in someone’s life that is devoid of enjoying the privileges of the environment they live in, the students of Bengal Institute of Business Studies have come up with an initiative. CHETANA, a Community Service’s launch takes place in the midst of stalwarts from different walks of life, who have imparted them with intensive knowledge and extensive training during their summer internship programme.
CHETANA comes with an agenda towards imparting free of cost professional training and job assistance to the unemployed educated mass of people. CHETANA is aided with availing training from different stalwarts from the industry. Corporate or the industry people will play a crucial role in this programme. Their role will entail ranging from sponsorship, mentoring and recruiting youth of underprivileged sections. The classes will be held during the weekends for duration of two months. This in itself is a great learning towards achieving something greater.
The students of BIBS are involved with CHETANA in a two-tier process. The resource team is responsible for contacting prospective candidates for the programme, who having completed the training programme will be assisted with placements. The corporate explorer team is responsible for engaging corporates to assist with the teaching and enhance their skill sets and make them corporate ready. This team also looks into creating placement opportunities for the trained candidates. This is a voluntary service rendered by the students of BIBS for the empowerment of the youth.
