MDMK protest today

Members of the Coimbatore unit of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) will stage a protest on August 22 (Monday) at 4 p.m. demanding early implementation of the education schemes announced for Coimbatore.

In a release, the party's district secretary V. Eswaran said that MDMK wanted Central and State governments to establish at earliest the World Class University, which was announced on March 28, 2003, wanted the State Government to provide land for Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore, though the Government had decided to convert it into a research institute.

The party said that the governments should not neglect the district but should initiate efforts to ensure that it was one of the pioneering districts.
