Vision 2030 document for CAs to be ready by Jan

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is in the process of preparing a 2030 Vision Document, aiming at improving the performance of its councils and enabling professionals to embrace IT in all spheres.
   
The document, expected to be released in January next, would also look at the aspects of education and training and opportunities for those in the industry, ICAI President G Ramaswamy told reporters here.
   
Nearly 20 past ICAI presidents, who were here to attend the two-day 43rd conference of Southern India Regional Council
of the Institute, discussed various modalities with regard to preparation of the document, he said.
   
As IT was taking over the entire profession and e-filing becoming common, ICAI, which has already invested Rs 30 crore on Project Parivartan (ChangeProgramme) would invest another Rs 40 crore for this purpose, he said.
   
The primary goal of ICAI was to uphold the public confidence in this Institution and to create a global chartered accountants by inculcating best International Practices in them, Ramaswamy said.
   
With the new Companies Act expected any time and Goods and Service Tax also coming into effect soon, the future of accountancy profession was going to be very promising and accountants can indeed play a greater role in the economic development of the country.
