MOU signed with centre for strengthening statistics mechanism

The state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Centre for strengthening the statistics apparatus in Bihar.
 
The MOU was signed by the Centre's Ministry of Statistics Joint Secretary Arvind Kumar and the Principal Secretary (Planning and Development) of the Bihar government Vijay Prakash at a function here.
 
Under the agreement, the Centre will help the state government in strengthening the statistics mechanism on the recommendations made by the former RBI Governor C. Rangarajan-led National Statistics Commission in this regard.
 
The Centre will assist Bihar in development of a statistics mechanism on the 20 core statistics international/national standards and the same will be implemented from this year to 20140-15 and the Centre will provide a grant of Rs. 92.20 crores to the state for the purpose.
 
The Rangarajan-led commission has, in its report, recommended training programmes for the statistics employees and setting up a cadre of those employees with avenues of promotion and other facilities for them.
