Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University near Perungudi

Chennai: The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has provided a vast new campus of sprawling 15 acres to Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University near Perungudi railway station.

As the present campus - Poompozhil - on 5 acres was not sufficient the University would soon function from Perungudi according to the initiative.

While replying to a debate on the demands for grants to the Departments of Law and Administration of Justice (Home, Prohibition and Excise), the Public Works and Law Minister Durai Murugan made the announcement on Wednesday.
 
The State government sanctioned about Rs.87.9 lakh for maintenance and repair works of the hostel of the Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai. A sum of Rs.14 lakh has been sanctioned for the purchase of books for all government law colleges.

Mr. Durai Murugan said that integrated court complexes would be built at Tiruvarur, Kulithurai (Kanyakumari district), Ranipet (Vellore), and Sankarankoil and Ambasamudram (both Tirunelveli).

Moving the demands for grants to the Law Department, the Minister said the government had issued orders for starting of 50 Fast Track Courts at the magisterial level and steps were being taken.
