HC summons MCD official for poor conditions in MCD-run schools

The Delhi High Court summoned MCD's Director of Education and the zonal directors for their "failure" to maintain the schools run by the civic agency properly.

A pision bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna summoned them to be personally present before them on August 10 and explain why the conditions of MCD schools were bad.

"We found a depressing picture about the schools where no facility was available for the students...The authorities concerned have to see the schools are hygienic and inspire the children," said the court.

The bench's order came after a 3-member committee, set up by it, said the members have visited three MCD-run schools in East Delhi and found that even local people throw garbages in the premises of the schools.

The bench was hearing a PIL alleging some schools were running in the tents and there is lack of basic amenities and the students do not get even sufficient number of books.
