Soren writes to Munda on minority community's education

Updated on: Thursday, August 04, 2011

JMM president Shibu Soren asked the Arjun Munda-led BJP government to form Madrasa board and take other educational initiatives to uplift the minority community in the state.

"Because of non-constitution of Madrasa board in the state, students are getting education as per the 1977 syllabus till date... the requirement of imparting education and conducting examination from Maulvi to Fazil should be done by Madrasa board or by (any) university," Soren said in his two-page letter to the chief minister.

Releasing a copy of the letter to the media here, the former chief minister also asked Munda to fulfil the minority community's demand for grant-in-aid to madrasas in the state as 'announced' by the state government at a programme organised by the Haj House.

Soren, who is also the chairman of the ruling BJP-JMM-Ajsu-JDU's Coordination Committee, said several people from the minority community had also played significant role during the statehood movement and their cause should be addressed to.
