CUJ issue will be resolved soon: Cong

Amidst protests by social and student groups demanding that the Central University of Jammu be made functional immediately, the Congress an ally of the ruling NC in JK, assured that the issue will be resolved soon with the Vice Chancellor's appointment at the earliest.
   
"The CUJ issue will be resolved soon and its Vice Chancellor will be appointed at the earliest," Congress MP Madan Lal Sharma said at a function here.
   
Sharma, who met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and union ministers Kapil Sibal, Pawan Bansal and Salman Khursheed in New Delhi and discussed the issue, said the meeting was successful and the leaders have assured that appointment of
CUJ VC will be made soon to make the university functional.
   
He said HRD minister Sibal assured him that it will be done on priority basis after the file is received from the President.
   
Sharma is scheduled to meet President Pratibha Patil on August 3 to request her for early clearance of the file for appointment of VC.
