Students need to shape into good humanbeings: Sagayam

Updated on: Wednesday, August 03, 2011

Students need not only become IAS officers, IPS officers, Doctors and Engineers, but also need to become good humanbeings', advised Sagayam, Madurai collector.

While speaking at a college function in Madurai, he emphasised that teachers should encourage students based on their aim, plan and interests. 'During my tenure in Namakkal, I gave away Rs.28000 to the student, who scored 491 in 10th standard public exam. But the student returned the money to me and asserted that he was not willing to join any private school but join in govt school.

In plus2, the particular student had secured 1165 marks and was allotted a seat in Madras medical college this year. It is important for me to mention here that he is a student who is differently abled.

Teachers should believe students and students must raise questions on what? why? and how?. Questions like these would augment your confidence', he further added.
