Updated on: Friday, July 15, 2011

India's HCL Technologies today opened a "co-innovation lab" with pharmaceutical group Eli Lilly as part of a new initiative to provide real-time IT services to global marketing corporations.

"The lab would provide mobile information through a speedy telecommunication network to Eli Lilly," HCL Technologies' President and Regional Head for the Asia-Pacific, Australia, Middle East and Africa, Virender Aggarwal, said.

The arrangement would cover real-time information on surveys and polls on drugs, drug reactions and performances, as well as doses, he added.

Eli Lilly will provide the necessary support for setting up a high-speed network for its global operations, with IT professionals and doctors participating in the development of programmes, HCL Tech said.

"The lab will accelerate the pursuit of innovation-led transformation by providing a collaborative environment and systematically cultivate new ideas and possibilities for Eli Lilly," Aggarwal added.

HCL has started working on several areas for Eli Lilly, the company added.

The lab would involve a perse set of partners and local or global talent to ensure the swift pursuit of business-aligned IT solutions.

HCL had recently opened a Global Enterprise Mobility Lab to support its IT services for international corporations.

US-based Eli Lilly has 38,165 employees, out of which 7,271 are involved in research and development in over 50 countries.
