Centre sanctions Rs 7.5 cr to Himachal for school libraries

In a bid to inculcate reading habits in students, the Centre has sanctioned Rs 7.50 crore to
Himachal Pradesh for improving school libraries in the state.
   
Under the library scheme, Rs 3,000 would be given to all 10,724 primary schools and Rs 10,000 to middle schools for
purchasing interesting and informative books, an official spokesman said.
  
He said the state would also get Rs 23 crores under the recommendation of the Finance Commission for library infrastructure and training of teachers among other things.
