Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education has decided to introduce changes in the examination pattern of class 10 and has introduced a standard syllabus at par with other national level boards for the intermediate level, officials said on Saturday.

According to the Director Secondary Education Sanjay Mohan, a meeting of the board was held yesterday which decided that the marks of board examination for high school students would be split into 70 and 30 marks each for external and internal examinations for all subjects.

The internal assesment system of project work done by the students has already been introduced, he said.

For class 12 students, a standard syllabus would be followed for mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology in all inter-colleges of the UP Board.

These changes have been made to maintain equality in education system. It had often been debated that the students of the UP Board are not able to perform well at the national level examiantions due to the syllabus, Mohan said.

The new changes would come into force from current academic session.
