We live in an age where people without basic computer knowledge are considered illiterate. Be it a student or a teacher, clerk or bosses, individuals from every industry are required to possess basic computing skills to be able to function efficiently. Thus, choosing a career in computers, which has immense potential, is one of the safest options for any youngster. However, what matters is how high your level of success is. These days, computer engineers are in high demand; to be a successful computer professional, one has to exert a lot of effort.

Ever since I was a child, the functioning of computers attracted me. This is probably what made me choose computer engineering. An individual may choose the stream of his choice, but factors like dedication and determination matter. Initially, I found it tough to cope with the lifestyle of an engineering student. As time passed, I realised that it wasn't that difficult; attending lectures, completing assignments, weekly tests and giving university exams was what I did all day. In the end, it pays off. The journey of an engineering student may seem arduous at first, but soon you begin to enjoy it and when it's all finally done, you will probably begin to miss those very days.

Moving on to a serious note, it is very important for every student to not only maintain a good academic record but also to get hands-on experience. College is the place to learn, where mistakes can be corrected and improved. However, this is not the case in the industry.

I always nurtured a dream to design the official website of the college I join. I am thrilled to have gone beyond achieving my ambition by also creating an academic oriented social networking site, Vidyalankar Live, that has won awards at various international competitions, attracts more than 1.5 lakh hits per day, and will always maintain an iconic status in the academic arena.

The kind of experience I gained at the college level is what will make me a good computer engineer-including internships and helping researchers on their projects. I am of the view that unless a student is challenged, he will not be able to push his limits and figure out what he is capable of. Applying the knowledge received from books in practice plays a vital role in shaping quality engineers.

This industry is growing at a promising rate and I'm glad to be a part of this growth.
