Punjab govt sanctions Rs 60 cr for primary schools

The Punjab government sanctioned Rs 60 crore for improving infrastructure in 4,000 primary schools in the state.
  
An official spokesman said each school would be provided proper furniture.
  
He said over 11.92 lakh students studying in government primary schools would be provided furniture.
  
The spokesman added that the SAD-BJP government was committed to improve the literacy rate in state especially among the girls.
  
He said that during the last four-and-a-half years, Punjab's position in education index has improved from 13th to 3rd in the country.
  
He said the state government has recruited over 70,000 teachers and added that 10,000 more teachers would be soon recruited.
