Focus on inclusive growth and sustainable development

There was excitement and nervousness among the freshmen of the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) as they were welcomed by the staff and senior students of the college on Monday.

Chief guest Manoj Mandal, director of Essar Industries, motivated the students to give first priority to the country. "Today, Indians are ruling the roost in developed industries of USA and other foreign countries. One must not forget his background in the process of learning. Rather than becoming high-profile NRIs, you must serve your country," he said while addressing the students. He also advised them to focus on inclusive growth and sustainable development. "Industrial development is taking place but at the cost of environment. We must not leave behind a polluted environment for the next generation," he added.

TOI spoke to some freshers who said they were looking forward to a fruitful experience at IMT. Chanchal Goyal, an engineering graduate, said, "I always knew that business management is my field. I joined this college for its brand value and fame. I can't wait to learn all the management skills here because I want to become a successful entrepreneur."

Smote by the infrastructure and aura of the college, Piyush Kukreja, another newcomer, said, "We had a nice interactive session with seniors and faculty and they were very friendly. It's not a college, its one big family."

Some senior students, already enriched by the campus experience, informed TOI that the institute provides the necessary training to make it big in the management field. Rohan Mehra, an engineering graduate, said, "This course gives you a holistic approach and it helps to be a part of the real world. Also, doing a course from a reputed college always has its own benefits. Everything about this college is great. Ambience is very pleasant and the new admission will definitely like it. The faculty is excellent and students have a bright chance of getting placed."

Another engineer, Chandrashekhar Kancherla said, "The quality of education and the social environment provided here is undisputable. Outsiders adjust very well and if they have any issues, the authorities are very helpful. Every student is empowered here because if any of them have complaints they can contact the faculty or senior authorities. It's completely 'paisa-vasool' and offers bright job opportunities to students."
