College management system launched

KTVR Knowledge Park of Engineering and technology launched college management system recently. P.R. Athmaraman, Chief Operating Officer, Rated Profiles, spoke to the students on the industry scenario and gave an overview of the rated profiles methodology. S. Sampath Kumar, Competency Development Manager, Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore, said that competency was all about knowledge, skill and attitude.

P.A. College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Government Hospital, Pollachi, organised a blood donation camp recently in the college premises. Chairman of the college P. Appukutty inaugurated the camp.

Nearly 75 students, faculty and others donated blood. Blood group testing was also done for the students. Haja Moideen, Medical Officer of the blood bank, donated the blood bags.

PPG Institute of Technology organised a special lecture on World Tobacco Day. Suresh Venkatachalam, Surgical Oncologist, and Nagarajan, Head and Neck Surgeon, spoke to the students on the evils of the use of tobacco. Picture descriptions of the evils of tobacco were put up in the college to graphically explain to the smokers as well as non-smokers. College buses carrying posters went around the neighbouring villages to create awareness among the people.

The first university day of Anna University, Coimbatore, was celebrated recently. K.C. Mahali, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, was the chief guest. He addressed the gathering and gave away prizes to the winners of various cultural and sports events. Vice-Chancellor R. Radhakrishnan enumerated the various facilities available in the university and the said the laboratories would be improved to world-class standards.

The NSS unit of Government Law College organised a seven-day special camp at Dheenampalayam village. Volunteers were involved in activities like white washing of school building, cleaning the streets, removing plastics, creating awareness on plastic usage, prevention of dowry harassment, ill-effects of corruption, legal awareness, etc. They are put up cultural shows for the villagers.
