The under graduation radiology course which was started with the recommendation of the M.G.R., Medical University, is operational since 2010-2011.

Persons willing to pursue this study must have completed plus two with Physics, as main subjest. On successful completion of the course, B.Sc., degree in Radiotherapy Technology will be conferred to the student.

This course is being started in the Adayar Cancer Research institute - Chennai from this academic year onwards. Adyar cancer research institute is a place where numerous people from all over India take treatment for cancer. This research institute has world class equipments facility. It is for this reason that people throng this place for treatment.

Patients with cancer are treated with radiation therapy. They are subjected to High energy X-Ray or gamma- Y radiation. This high energy radiation must be handled with utmost care. These rays are generated by the hi tech Linear Accelerator.

The radiology course thereby teaches the ways and means to operate the high end machines that emanate radiation for the patients.

A person must be highly qualified to operate these type of machines. Availing this special quality is the study of B.Sc Radiotherapy Technology course. This is a full time course. Physics and human anatomy is also taught in this course. Students graduating with this course are on high demand in our country. Radiology graduates also can get good jobs abroad.
