Updated on: Thursday, June 16, 2011

Graduation in a degree course has become passé . Students today are opting for add-on courses (certificate and diploma courses) to secure employment. It gives them expertise in other courses along with their degree course.

The Rajasthan University is also offering add-on courses in its constituent colleges Rajasthan, Commerce, Maharaja and Maharani College . Leading the pack, Rajasthan College is offering five certificate programmes. "The courses have been chosen keeping job security in mind," Feroz Ahmed, principal , Rajasthan College, said.

They are in banking and taxation , management, computer science and others. Going with the trend, Maharani College, the state's biggest college for girls has come up with many career oriented courses suited for girls. Principal of Maharani College, Kusum Jain, said, "The idea is to enhance the bio-data of students besides giving them freedom to choose subjects which they didn't take up in degree programme."
