Updated on: Wednesday, June 15, 2011

The MCD said portable cabins will replace tents in its primary schools in the city.

Chairman of MCD Education Committee Mahinder Nagpal chaired a meeting of officials of Education and Engineering departments in which it was decided that works pertaining to renovation, cleanliness, whitewash and provision of water in
toilets in schools will be completed by June 30.

The summer vacation in MCD schools comes to an end on that day and they will reopen on July 1.

He said that it was also decided in the meeting that no student should sit in tents after the completion of admission procedure and portable cabins should be installed. The MCD is using tents in many of its schools in absence of buildings.

Nagpal said for keeping an eye on the progress of the works, all the school inspectors have been directed to monitor and report on every 15 days about progress of works in upkeep of the schools.
