As part of its e-governance initiative, the Delhi Government today introduced an online system under which private trusts and entities will be able to
apply online for recognition of their schools.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, launching the online system, said education department will have to take decisions on the applications within stipulated period of two months. The process currently takes around two to three years.

"With launch of the new system, the delays on account of objection on various levels will be overcome as everything will be online and transparent. Moreover, there will be no harassment and delay," she said.

Any trust or organisation can apply for government recognition of their schools on www.edudel.nic.in.

Dikshit said Delhi needs more schools and hoped that the initiative will encourage private entities to set up schools in the city.

She said currently 146 applications seeking recognition of schools are pending with the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said with launch of the module, the Education Department has become fully computerised.

Appointment, transfer of teachers, school record, attendance, teachers identity as well as students' records have already been computerised, he said.
