BIM achieves 100 per cent placement

Tiruchirappalli: The Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM)  has achieved 100 per cent placement for the 24th consecutive batch, a top official has said.

The achievement despite the global meltdown proved that  BIM stood for excellence in business education and that the goodwill earned among recruiters helped the institute even during testing times, Prof. M. Shankaran, Director and Placement Chairman of the B-School, told PTI last evening.

The batch which passed out in April 2009 comprised 90 students and the total number of offers was 104. This year, seven pre-placement offers were made by top rank companies across various sectors like FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), IT and BFSI (Banking, finance and service industry), he said.

The highest salary offered was Rs 10.34 lakhs per annum, median salary Rs 6.88 lakh and minimum accepted was Rs 4.75 lakh, he said adding the average salary was Rs 7.02 lakh. Marketing specialisation topped in placements bagging 45 per cent of the offers, followed by finance (22), general management (17), systems (11) and HR and others five per cent.

The BFSI sector was represented by institutions like JP Morgan, Bank of America, SBI Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI, SBI Life, Bharti Axa and India Infoline.

Under the FMCG sector, the offers were from HUL, Godrej, CavinKare, Wipro, Asian Paints and others. In IT and ITES, all top notch companies made their offers and in other groups, companies like Brandcomm, Tata Teleservices, IMRB, IOCL and Castrol made their offer to the BIM graduates, Sankaran said
