Spain to aid Honduras on basic education

Updated on: Saturday, June 11, 2011

Spain will support basic education in Honduras under a new bilateral deal that involves 7.4 million U.S. dollars and affects 4,000 students and 11,000 families in the Central American country.

The agreement was signed within the framework of a debt conversion program and will address early primary education in communities suffering from extreme poverty, Honduran officials said Thursday.

The Central American Bank of Economic Integration has been chosen to manage and execute the project and provide technical and administrative assistance.
