Convention of educational officials

Karnataka Government is holding a two-day convention for officials of Department of Education to debate on issues concerning, improving quality of education in its schools and programmes to be designed for this purpose from June 23.

Officials of the rank of Block Educational Officers and above will be involved in the interaction at the convention expected to be participated by about 500 officials, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri told reporters here today.

A committee would be set up to study and recommend measures to rectify pay anomalies of teachers of primary schools, high schools and Pre-university college teachers and it would submit its report by this month end, he said.

Another committee has been set up to guide the government on improving standards of education in vocational training centres under National Vocational Educational qualification frame work policy being evolved by the Union Government.

Industries would be involved in the exercise so that these vocational training centres can roll out the required manpower, Kageri said.

The government is conducting a special programme in all its schools on July 5, with the participation of elected representatives to attract more students in Government run schools.

The state is initiating measures to implement the RTE Act, he said.
