Parents meet education inspector on fee hike

Updated on: Thursday, June 09, 2011

On Monday, parents from Andheri, Malad, Kandivli and Borivli met education inspector EI Pawar to ask him why no action has been taken on their demand for reduction in school fees. One of the parents, Namitabh Kothari, said that there have been many cases where students have been victimised if parents refuse to pay the new fees.

Parents also complained that they had to pay up huge amounts of money to schools for no valid reason. The parents are now planning a meeting with the education minister, the school trustees, principals, and parent-teacher association members on June 14 to discuss fee hike-related issues. The quality of teaching and inadequate infrastructure at schools will also be discussed.
