UNESCO New Delhi office has partnered for the photo contest, 'My Country's World Heritage,' for school children to create awareness about its world heritage sites. The contest is being organised by Nivesh and the Himalayan Hub for Art, Culture and Heritage (HHACH) in partnership with Canon India. The exhibition of photographs and the first workshop was inaugurated by Kensaku Konishi, president and CEO of Canon India. At the inauguration he said, "We are proud to be associated with the Unesco project to preserve world heritage sites through photography. We believe that the pictures taken by these children will not only help in awareness about the current state of the sites and the need for their conservation but also help in raising a new generation which believes in expression through pictures." The first in the series of workshops on photography was held at the Qutub Minar where 50 students took part from various schools attended the session conducted by noted photographer Shailesh Sharma.

This session was followed by a photo exhibition at the Canon Lounge, Ambience Mall, Gurgaon. These workshops are part of the contest, 'My Country's World Heritage.' It is open for school students under two categories — 15-17 years old and 12-14 years old. Students are encouraged to send in their pictures through their registered schools. The next workshop will be held in June in Leh. The contest will close on September 30 and will thereafter be judged by a panel.
