Fellowships for Indian professionals in Australia

Australia India Institute is
all set to roll out a series of eight week residential
fellowships to Indian professionals from a variety of
disciplines including media, academia, the civil service and
public life.

 The new fellowships were being introduced for
mid-career Indian professionals to apply for its Emerging
Leader Fellowships Program 2011-2012, its newly appointed
director, Amitabh Mattoo, said here.

 Australia India Institute (AII) will open the
fellowship applications in July. Successful candidates are
expected to deliver public lectures on subjects of
international significance and produce extended essay of
approximately 5000 words on the same theme, which will be
published and widely disseminated by the Institute.

  The Fellows would also be expected to contribute to
the regular programme of the AII and it is envisioned that
their presence will enrich the Institute and the University of
Melbourne. Institute will endeavour to customise each
Fellowship to maximise interaction with peers across
Australia.

 The Fellowship would include airfares, residential
accommodation, office space and a payment of 10,000 Australian
dollars .

 AII was established in 2009 with a motive of
contributing greater understanding, cooperation and
partnership between India and Australia. In 2010, it provided
grants of nearly one million dollars to collaborate research
projects between India and Australia.
