CAP will nullify drawbacks of conventional admission process: VC

A series of meetings arranged by the Mahatma Gandhi University with stakeholders in order to facilitate the smooth implementation of the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) for undergraduate courses commenced here on Wednesday.

Inaugurating the deliberations with the principals of affiliated colleges at the School of Chemical Sciences here, Vice-Chancellor Rajan Gurukkal said that the implementation of the new system would nullify the drawbacks of the conventional admission process with the support of plausible technology.

“The CAP, which is being based on track-proven information technology tools, will maximise the opportunities for the students in selecting courses and colleges of their choice with unlimited flexibility while keeping the expenses to the minimum. Access is democratised in the new system. The students need to tender only one application,” he said.

He also opined that the CAP would prove to be a boon for all the stakeholders of the university.

University Pro Vice-Chancellor Rajan Varughese presided over the function.

Syndicate members V.N. Chandra Mohanan, R. Sasikumar, K. Radhakrishnan Nair, Rajasekhara Pillai and Santhosh spoke on the occasion.

Registrar M.R. Unni welcomed the gathering and Public Relations Officer G. Sreekumar proposed a vote of thanks.

Later in the day, a meeting was also held with the representatives of various service organisations at the Mini Conference Hall of the University Administrative Block.

The deliberations will continue over the next couple of days. On Thursday, discussions will be held with the managers of various colleges, representatives of teachers' organisations and the teacher representatives in the Senate.

Members of various non-teaching staff organisations, representatives of the Senate and various students' organisations have been invited for the deliberations on Friday.
