What next?

The Std XII students have finished their exams a month ago, but are they free to take a break from studies? The answer is a big NO. They have been packed up and admitted to coaching institutes for engineering or medical entrances. If you ask most students in Tamil Nadu, what their aim is; the answer will be to become a doctor. It becomes engineering after the results, and after graduation they get into BPOs, while some still roam around with their resumes.

Something is fundamentally wrong here. We have been trained to score marks, but not to understand the meaning or scope of the subject or how to apply it. In public exams, even in maths, we get the question as it is in the textbook. But at least in the CBSE curriculum, students are trained to understand the concept and made to apply the concept in exams.

Excel in your field

A famous dialogue from the film “3 Idiots” comes to my mind: “Success ke peeche math bago yar, excellence ke peeche bago, success tumare peeche ayegi.” (Don't run behind success, but run behind excellence and success will automatically come to you.)

As the results approach, what's next is the big question. As the proverb says “strike the iron when it is hot”, it's the perfect time to hit the iron and bend it the way you want it to be. There are so many courses available to get in to a better career. Don't confine yourself to a small circle, diversify your options. Choose a field that you like; every field has its uniqueness and charm. Be inspired by the icons in various fields.

Don't tryo to be a jack of all trades, but be a master of one. Good luck for all those who are awaiting their results. Choose aptly, study to excel and success will be yours.
