Kanpur university to print documents in special security press

The Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University here has decided to print degree certificates and marksheets with special security features, similar to those found in currency notes, for easy differentiation between fake and original documents.
Printed in a special security press, the certificates and marksheets will have no less than 20 security features found in currency notes and stamp papers, making it extremely difficult to be recreated.

The degree certificate and marksheets will also be made available to students on a single paper.

Vice Chancellor of the university H K Sehgal said, "We have been coming across several complaints regarding fake certificates on a regular basis. A number of companies also enquire with us about the credentials of a candidate, to check whether the marksheet of the candidate was real or fake. A lot of our time and manpower is wasted on verifying students' credentials every year."

"Therefore, we decided to go for special security features in our documents. We have placed an order with a security press for printing university certificates including the degree, marksheet, provisional certificate and award among others. From this year, we will provide a single-page document that will have a degree certificate and a marksheet back-to-back. Students will start getting such certificates from June this year."

Sehgal said the certificates will have at least 20 special security features that are difficult to be noticed at a cursory look.

He, however, did not divulge the name of the security press.
