Employees and faculty of University of Madras have demanded an inquiry by the government into the alleged violations in recruitments of teaching and non-teaching staff

In the past one-week, many university employees had approached the Madras high court seeking interim injunction restraining the institution from filling vacancies with underqualified persons

Dr S. Saravanan, who had been guest lecturer-cumresearch fellow in the university’s Saiva Sithanda department had filled a petition in the high court stating that an under qualified person was called for interview for the vacant post in the department along with him and his chances of being appointed in the university was more. The Madras high court passed an order directing the university not to fill up the post.
A senior professor on condition of anonymity alleged that there were numerous such violations taking place in the university. 'Everyone knows that the governo rchancellor of our university had already sent a notice to our vice-chancellor asking him how he had recruited over 10 employees for various posts violating university norms. This itself shows how violations in recruitment take place in the university,'he said

'We want a fair probe in this issue. Let the government constitute a high-level committee which will investigate this issue and come up with a white paper about the alleged violations
