Job-oriented skills training initiated

 India Skills, a vocational training initiative from Manipal Education and City & Guilds, here today launched 'GMS Vocations and IndiaSkills' in association with Gowtham Model Schools (GMS).

The joint venture will facilitate job-oriented skills training for 9,000 students from Class XI and XII across 10GMS Junior Colleges in Hyderabad, IndiaSkills, GM (Product and Marketing) Arun Sriram and GMS Chairman Venkata Narayana told.

          

IndiaSkills will commence courses in Retail, hospitality, hair and beauty and computer-based accounting and will soon expand the portfolio to include facilities management, financial services, banking operations and supply chain management, they said.

          

"The joint venture in vocational training between IndiaSkills and GMS is a step towards addressing the growing issue of lack of professional skills among students in India," they said adding the curriculum on skill development programmes will equip the students with skills and ensure that they become productive and efficient.

      

"We are confident that our innovative learning model, industry relavant and practical training methods will go a long way in shaping the careers of the students at GMS," Arun Sriram said.
