Medical council probe in to capitation fee issue

New Delhi: A team from Medical Council of India (MCI) will  arrive chennai to investigate the issue of capitation fees demanded by two medical colleges based in Tamil Nadu, announced Ketan Desai, Acting President, MCI

'We have decided to send teams to Chennai to probe the allegations of capitation fees issue,' said Ketan Desai.

Officials of Shree Balaji Medical College and Sri Ramachandra University were revealed demanding capitation fees in the range of Rs 12-20 lakh to give admission to students.

The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) has served notice to the medical colleges to explain the matter after the allegation came into light.

A committee has also been appointed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to probe into the matter.
