Establishing proven talents and setting new benchmarks, Kuruksastra 2011, the fifth edition of the national cultural festival of SASTRA University, Thanjavur, will witness from March 24 to 27 befitting feats by participants from top institutions.

The ‘culfest' as the organisers term it enthusiastically, would feature art, music and literary events, besides dance.

The literary events would be in English, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Collage creativity, giving a whole new dimension to the black and white world in pencil sketching, three dimension modelling, feet tapping and jaw dropping moves while making the east meet the west… The days will be packed with wholesome entertainment, the organisers promise.

English events encompass dumb charades, shipwreck, et al, and Hindi literary events include debates on vital subjects. Antakshari is meant to provide a rich peek into Bollywood music. There will also be a quiz titled ‘Mera Bharat Mahan'.

Tamil events constitute movie quiz, ‘Pattimandram' and the popular comedy event: Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru. The festival has enough to offer for lovers of music pertaining to most genres.

The ultimate cynosure would be on the team winning the Kuruksastra trophy. And yes, there is a prize-money of Rs. 3.5 lakh to be won. To know more about the event, visit www.kuruksastra.org.
